Michaelmas - September 29

Michaelmas - September 29

St. Michael is defender to police AND to those who need to be protected. In our craft, St. Michael is invited to join in the circle to protect and defend us against evil or negative energies or spirits. If an innocent is being attacked or in need of protection, we ask St. Michael to step in with his sword and chase away the danger and if we ourselves are plagued by negative circumstance or habits we can ask him to swing his sword and cut away these things that would be to our detriment.

St. Michael's colors are Red, Green and Gold. Burn a red candle on his day to honor him for his devotion to us. Benedizione.

We Are All In This Together

It is very easy to sit and complain about the conditions of things. All of the things that urk us about this, that, and the other thing. The husband, wife, and kids, the job, the traffic. Whatever it may be. AND, it is even easier to talk than it is to act yet while I was sitting and complaining about this, that and the other thing, a Carole King song came on called "We Are All In This Together" and I realized that this really summed it all up for me and I pray all of you will enjoy the following lyrics. They can be obtained free online therefore I am sharing them with you here. If you like it you can purchase the cd Wrap Aroun Joy. Very nice cd.

Yuletide blessings to all. ~ StregaMama

We Are All In This Together
by Carole King

The just are seeking justice
The meek are reaching out
For something only children
Can really know about

And some men cry for mercy
While they deny thier brothers' pain
And some men laugh for reasons
They can never quite explain

We are all in this together
And maybe we'll see that one day
When we conquer our fear together
When we finally find a way

And we all need forgiving
For all the damage done
For the things we do, not thinking
For the hurt that we've caused someone

But me, I keep on living
Caught somewhere there between
The reason and the meaning
The vision and the dream

We are all in this together
I know that seems easy to say
But I don't use the word "forever"
It's enough just to say "someday"

Solitary Workings on November Full Moon

Last night we celebrated Full Moon and afterward I was working with tarot magick and a friend decided to snap a couple of pics with his puter camera. Low res but it was a kick just the same. These were poses not the actual work I did. That would be too distracting. Enjoy!

Pagan/Witches Pride

Benedizione! This is the time of year that many Pagan Pride events are taking place. We have much to be proud of. Over the past 45 or so years many have stepped forward to say I'm not going to be made to hide any longer because people consider strange, weird, a devil worshipper or even dangerous. That is the result of fear tactics used by their churches to keep them from exploring other religions. We are gaining our freedom to practice openly more and more every day and now the time has come to show others that we respect their religions and ask only that they come open minded to a Pagan Pride Day event and learn about who we are and the diversity that we have in our community. We hope that these individuals who are drawn to our events will be able to be more tolerant and accepting of our ways and less fearful. When we speak about religious tolerance and diversity, it isn't only the outside world that needs to become tolerant of us, but WE need to be more tolerant of one another. If someone does something different than us so what. If someone feels they need to leave our numbers to explore other directions so what! The craft and the pagan path is a path of freedom. Remeber WE ARE FREE TO CHOOSE. WE ARE TO BE FREE! Let's not bog each other down with old, dead issues. Let's all be free to be and stop the intolerance from within so we can help stop it from without. Then we'll really have something to be proud of!

Benedizione Terra Mater - September 2005

From all that I've read and what I've been taught, mankind is supposed to be the stewards of the planet. Why the powers that be would choose us for this sacred task is beyond me, but it has so been deemed, so how can we carry out this charge? How can we keep the Earth from dying right under our feet? Ecological groups have been screaming about the depletion of our natural resourses and the negative consequences that result. This is no joke. We can see the evidence in our ozone layer, the mudslides that have resulted from ripping trees and their root systems out of the earth and the ever decreasing deposits of rich oil that the whole western world is so dependent on that their willing to kill for it. One of the things we can do is to give back to the earth when we take something. This doesn't mean pouring some milk, honey and grain in a hole with a thank you. If trees are cut down, trees must be planted. Less oil needs to be consumed. Polution control should be a top priority because if we lose our atmosphere we're so screwed! It's a bleak picture to paint but if we don't see it, the whole of mankind will be lost for lack of a home to live on. 2005's September Full Moon is on Friday the 18th. Why not plant some bulbs to not only produce something pleasing to the eye in the Spring, but that returns something to Mother Earth...Terra Mater. Don't forget to say a blessing as you are planting. Now you can make your offerings. Benedizione!
